Whenever I log onto twitter, there always seems to be some sort of controversy surrounding Harry Potter author JK Rowling. For this project, I wanted to create a series of informational posters describing some of the real issues related to what she has said.

 

Many of Rowling’s statements have expressed her views regarding different parts of the LGBT community. Instead of canceling Rowling herself, I made a point to highlight why we should be paying attention to the real issues LGBT people face. Cancel culture is extremely toxic, and even though Rowling may deserve to be condemned for her words, way too much focus is being placed on her. In my infographics, I start with a highlight over something she Rowling has said and use it as a segue into actual important statistics. With this campaign, I hope highlighting these issues will cause more people to educate themselves on these real problems instead of just bashing someone over the internet.
